Dealing with tantrums of hyperactive toddlers can be quite a challenge. I realized recently that such difficult times in parenthood need to be taken in the right spirit. That makes it just a bit easier.

I was on the terrace last noon. Abu Dhabi weather seemed Mediterranean : Cool . Fresh. Breezy.
With spring around the corner, the freshness in the air reflected many moods of the landscape. The sky bowl was low, gradually shaded from blue to grey-orange. The crisp melon coloured sun shone in thin blinding strips along glass buildings. The building lines were crisp at the horizon in a monochromatic scheme.
I longed to be somewhere by the beach – soaking up the sea wind sipping my favourite cocktail ---enjoying my freedom. And here I was running behind a toddler with a water bottle and a sandwich; in my pyjamas; hair all messed up.
But as we ran about watching birds in the sky, he had finished his sandwich by the time we counted seconds before the sun vanished into darkness… and I realized how endearingly satisfying all this was.
Actually motherhood has its own liberties too. Ambitions become simplified. Now I go to work looking like a zombie and its okay! Everyone understands. Whereas on my dream beach, I was supposed to look prim n proper…right!
