Hazy Dazed Austria

Grey cloak wraps around uncountable hills,
their once snowy peaks entangled in clouds.
Like spires of old tall baroque churches
in a frail weave of unseen sunrays.

Cobbled neat paths line the jade river -
a bursting life line for each quaint town.
Sculptures immovable as towering guards -
a constant guide into the ancient era.

Hazy air enlivens many a humdrum existence,
rendering each scene in its own scent.
Life flows along endless undulating greens,
innocently curving onto country roads .

Raindrops chase the sun gleams away
and the monsoon winds ruffle my tresses.
Generous plazas contain straying thoughts,
as swinging grasses impishly revive them.

A still emerald lake snuggled within
giant conifers and lush rolling vales.
Amid many a sashaying blue- necked duck,
a lone silver swan sails calmly.

Let us keep wandering onward,
pleasant surprises to encounter.
It is in such lost moments,
that love is realized anew.

As white skies filter golden sunbeams,
wild flowers kiss the rippled waters…
I call for you all the more
to relish this breathtaking journey.

With the scurrying vagabond breeze,
that tickles some roused senses,
immersed in Austrian gemeutlichkeit,
an ever dazed trio, craves to see it all.

* gemuetlichkeit - mood of peaceful coziness

  1. Nats,
Indeed a well written composition, highlighting the peaceful elements. Glad the trip renewed your love elements too ;) Also amazed that they actually have a word for "mood of peaceful coziness" ... must be a common feeling people experience there!!

  2. Even I loved the word so much that I had to use it :)
It doesnt literally translate as that, but sums up the feeling.
