Among drab white walls
and blinding bright lights,
I sit here each day.
I fly out of the window,
for a while, become the sun ray.
They cannot see me take wing.
Nor can they know of my inner grin,
as I plunge deep, unfathomable
into my own inward distraction.
I covertly mock them.
For they know not
where I go
and when do I return,
back to their rush-hour life
as I hear them run.
On the streets,
along the corridors
I sense the clattering
of opinions inside their heads.
Amidst this hullabaloo
my hushed mind.
calmly continues to relish
