Just One Chance

Every bursting river crossed,
was a teasing mirage.
Each clambered hill,
merely a deceptive dune.

Never shall it get over,
when immense is my pursuit.
More of everyday I grasp,
daring to drown deeper and down.

Pebbles mistaken for pearls,
tossed hastily in new waters.
Their ripples still seek the shore.
Even so, life dreams up fairytales…

I interweave aspirations with bits of prayer
for them to last forever.
Yet only to knock onto closed doors,
amusing my own self, in conclusion.

The mind slave continues to be mocked.
An aftertaste of disappointment
interrupts inner landscapes,
clobbering into nonexistence.

Lend me a little light filled niche,
to unravel my treasured beliefs.
Just one chance to play my song all over again…
for I don’t know where to begin!
